Block Design

Time limit: 9 minutes

Please read the instructions carefully as you will only have one attempt. Failure to read the instructions may invalidate your attempt.

This test involves visual acuity under timed conditions so please make sure you are taking the test on a sufficiently large screen (monitor is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED) and make sure you adjust your browser zoom before starting (neutral or slightly zoomed out is probably preferable; you want to be able to see the entire image).

Firefox is NOT supported; only Chrome, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers.

Instructions

You will see a whole image at the top of the screen. This is your reference image.

Below it will be four options. These options contain a segmented set of blocks. Your goal is to select the segmented blocks that match the whole reference image.

See the following example:

Answer: D. When the segmented pieces in option D are pushed together, they form the image at the top.

*Note: The segmented pieces are always pushed together with adjacent blocks. The segmented blocks in the choices NEVER change relative position (i.e. they ARE NEVER SCRAMBLED. They cannot be spatially moved in any way, only pushed together to remove the segmentation).

However, sometimes the top reference image may be rotated in 360 degrees. The image will never be mirrored (or "flipped").

Example:

Answer: Note the answer is still D. The segmented blocks pushed together and rotated 45 degrees.

Finally, sometimes the segmented blocks will not assemble in exactly the same SIZE as the top image. Therefore, size will never be relevant to whether or not the answer is correct, only the relative position of the segmented blocks when pieced together.

Example:

Finally, reference images may contain any number of blocks, not just 2x2 segmentation. See the following two examples before starting and be sure that you understanding how segmenting works.

The test contains 26 questions and you have 9 MINUTES to complete the test.

There is no penalty for wrong answers. It is recommended that you use your time to focus on answering correctly, though if you are running out of time, you are allowed to guess on any remaining questions.

Time begins as soon as you press start.
